SUMMARY:Generative AI in Mathematics Education
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Tin Lam TOH\, Associate Professor\, National Institute of Education\, Nanyang Technological University\, Singapore\, This session will describe how Generative AI has been used in the mathematics teacher education in Singapore\, and a glimpse into the use of Gen AI in school mathematics classroom. More importantly\, he will also present an alternative paradigm of using Gen AI embedding into the problem-solving mathematics curriculum. Register online.

SUMMARY:Dynamic Interplay of Policy\, Curriculum\, and Practice in Korean Mathematics Education
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Kyungwon Lee\, a PhD candidate at Seoul National University\, this webinar session aims to provide insights into classroom practices related to computational thinking\, data science\, and AI in the U.S. mathematics education context\, drawing on the Korean case. Register online. \nIn Korea\, the national curriculum is periodically revised and recent issues such as computational thinking\, data science\, and AI\, have been introduced at the policy level\, leading to active changes in school-level practices. The webinar examines how these themes are reflected in Korean mathematics education through the lens of interplay among policy\, curriculum\, and practice; presenting cases of technological tools and professional development programs that support this interplay. \nThis session will include short hands-on activities and discussions\, offering participants an opportunity to reflect on data science\, computational thinking\, and AI into their own mathematics teaching practices.

SUMMARY:Australia’s School Mathematics Curriculum and Education Policy
DESCRIPTION:This session will be on Australia’s School Mathematics Curriculum and Education Policy presented by Justine Sakurai\, Lecturer\, University of Melbourne\, Australia. Register online. \nAustralia’s federated education system presents a compelling case study in curriculum policy reform. This presentation traces how national curriculum standards\, assessment frameworks\, and professional learning have been sequenced to integrate computational thinking\, data science\, and AI into K–12 mathematics. \nCentral to this work is Australia’s innovative computational thinking framework. It embeds algorithmic reasoning and mathematical modelling as foundational practices\, not standalone additions. \nDrawing on the current Australian Curriculum (Standards) and state-level responses\, the session offers concrete insights into policy\, curriculum\, and assessment design that drives equitable and sustainable integration across mathematics education.

SUMMARY:A Workshop on International Practices in K-12 Mathematics Education: The Role of Computational Thinking\, Data Science\, and AI
DESCRIPTION:An international workshop to discuss how top performing countries mainly in secondary mathematics education are modernizing their math curriculums. Workshop participants will discuss processes\, mechanisms\, and best practices for revising secondary mathematics curriculums and identifying the necessary competencies to remain globally competitive. Learn more and register to attend virtually at nationalacademies.org/projects. \nInvited international experts will discuss how the modernized curriculum is aligned with the technology in the classroom (learning environment)\, textbooks/educational materials\, and instructional techniques (teaching and learning). A report summarizing the workshop discussion will be released by June of 2026.
